New Delhi, Sept 24: The CBI today contradicted the Hinduja brothers` claim that the money received by them from Bofors did not relate to the Rs 1437 crore contract awarded to the Swedish arms manufacturer for the supply of 400 howitzer guns to the Indian Army in March 1986.
New Delhi, Sept 24: The CBI today contradicted the
Hinduja brothers' claim that the money received by them from Bofors
did not relate to the Rs 1437 crore contract awarded
to the Swedish arms manufacturer for the supply of 400
howitzer guns to the Indian Army in March 1986.
"Their entire stand is false. We have clinching evidence
to show that the money related to Bofors contract," Additional
Solicitor General (ASG) Mukul Rohatagi told Justice J D Kapoor
showing the documents sent by the Swiss investigating judge in
response to letters Rogatory from special CBI court here.
Reading out the Bofors contract number mentioned on the
said document, Rohatagi claimed it showed how the accused
brothers received monies in three coded accounts - Mont Blanc,
Tulip and Lotus - of Macintyre Corporation owned by them.
Justice Kapoor is hearing appeals filed by accused Hinduja brothers - Srichand, Gopichand and Prakashchand and Bofors challenging the November 2002 order of special judge Prem Kumar framing charges against them in the Rs 64 crore pay-off case.
While admitting that they received money from Bofors, Hinduja Brothers have been maintaining that the same was not related to Bofors.
