Patna, July 02: Work in nine universities and 250 constituent colleges across Bihar continued to be paralysed as the indefinite strike by 53,000 non-teaching employees entered the second day today. State University and College Employees Federation general secretary Ganga Prasad Jha said the strike was "total".
The striking employees, owing allegiance to the University and College Employees Union, are demanding timely payment and fair disbursement of salary grants and regularisation of services of their colleagues working on an ad-hoc basis.
The stir may delay admission in different colleges and affect the academic session.
Employees of different universities and colleges were holding demonstrations and meetings to protest the government`s alleged apathy towards their demands, Jha said.
The federation threatened to further intensify the agitation and hold a demonstration in front of the state legislature on July 15 if the demands were not met. Bureau Report
