Anantnag (Kashmir), Sept 28: National Conference president Omar Abdullah today said that Congress' threat to withdraw from the assembly elections indicated that the party had accepted its defeat and asked it to pack its bags before the people of the state took up the task. Addressing an election rally at Sherbagh, Omar asserted that Congress leaders had threatened to pull out of the polls realising that their electoral fortunes had been seized and they had no role to play here.
Taking a dig at Ghulam Nabi Azad, he said that one day the state Congress chief and his colleague Ambika Soni predicts that Jammu and Kashmir would be a Congress ruled state and the very next day they retract their statement saying the state would have a hung assembly.
Claiming that Congress-PDP and BJP had entered into an electoral alliance, Omar said these "threatenings and gimmicks will lead Congress nowhere. It is an opportune time for them to pack their bags before the people of the state desire so."
He refuted reports that there was any wave against the National Conference.
"The Congress and PDP will face the worst defeat in the electoral history of the state because the people of the state are not being mislead by their false promises and hypocritic politics," Omar claimed.
