Munger, Nov 18: The Madhya Pradesh Police have transferred to Bihar all the cases registered by the Jabalpur government railway police relating to attack and alleged rape
of passengers from Northeastern states passing through Bihar in the aftermath of assault on Bihari students in Assam.
The Superintendent of Railway Police, Jamalpur, Bihar, Gangeshwar Prasad said here today that he had received all the FIRs yesterday and the probe was in progress.
Prasad said some train passengers travelling through Bihar had complained to GRP at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh that they were attacked, their belongings looted and a woman was also raped by agitating youth at Jamalpur on November 11. He said a case was registered against 50 unknown persons. Following opposition criticism of failure to check atrocities on passengers from the Northeast and a request by the Assam government, Bihar government had yesterday announced to hand over the probe into the incidents to CBI.
