New Delhi, Oct 17: Describing India as a major market, Gulf Air said on Thursday it would start operations from Bangalore and Kolkata during the winter season, taking the total number of its destinations in India to seven. The twice-weekly Bangalore flight would start from October 26 and another twice-weekly service from Kolkata from November 25, Gulf Air president and CEO James Hogan told reporters here.

The airline was also in talks with the government to launch all-economy, full-service flights of its subsidiary 'Gulf Traveller' to certain Indian destinations like Kochi, he said, adding Gulf Air had started four services a week to Kochi in July. The subsidiary already operates into some other Indian destinations.
