New Delhi, Oct 08: As CBI raided her residences here and in Lucknow, BSP leader Mayawati today launched a bitter attack on Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the raids saying the BJP will "regret" this action and pay heavily in the forthcoming assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference after the raid here, she said the CBI action had been done under political pressure to tarnish her image and that of her party.
"There is none except the Prime Minister and the BJP who are behind this politically-motivated action. The BJP will regret this decision. The forthcoming assembly polls will witness a rout of BJP", an angry Mayawati said.
Alleging that CBI was acting at the behest of Vajpayee, she demanded an independent inquiry into the assets of his foster daughter and son-in-law. She also alleged that the two had amassed huge wealth and possessed a number of properties in several prominent places, including Nainital.
"Why does not CBI take action against them", she asked.
She said that the Prime Minister had to face the ire of BSP workers for the CBI action against her.
Asked whether she would go with congress in the coming polls, she refused to give a reply saying today`s press conference was limited to CBI`s action.
Mayawati claimed that the CBI officials could not find anything incriminating from the raids. She alleged the officials seized Rs 5.5 lakhs collected by party workers for the medical treatment of party leader Kanshi Ram despite pleas against taking it.
