New Delhi, Sept 09: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today filed a civil defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against the city BJP Chief Madan Lal Khurana seeking to restrain him from making defamatory allegations of corruption against her. In the defamation suit filed through counsel Upamanyu Hazarika and Rahul Sharma, the Chief Minister has requested the court to award her symbolic damages of Rs 101 for the "harm" caused to her reputation. She also sought permanent prohibitory injunction restraining Khurana from making allegations of corruption or imputations and getting the same published in any manner - directly or indirectly. The defamation suit is likely to come up for hearing soon, her counsel said.

Khurana had on September 3 accused Dikshit of receiving funds for election purposes from the private power companies in lieu of releasing the central funds to them.

Demanding a CBI inquiry into the matter, Khurana, in a letter to Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, said "I have the information that in consideration of the first installment of Rs 105 crore given to private companies from the sanctioned amount of Rs 500 crore, Dikshit has received Rs 15 crore for election fund.

Dikshit, who had asked Khurana to tender an apology to her for the said allegations, had made it clear yesterday that she was ready to move the court against him.
