Peshawar, May 17: Feuding tribesmen waged a two-hour gun battle that left seven villagers dead in northwest Pakistan, officials said today. The shoot-out yesterday began over a land dispute in a village near Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, police official Doran Shah said.
A heavy contingent of police were sent quickly to the region to calm the feuding tribesmen.
It wasn't clear why the first shot was fired but disputes in the rugged tribal regions often degenerate into shootouts between heavily armed tribesmen. Bureau Report
