Milan, Feb 28: Dolce and Gabbana gave their street-wise D&G label a grown up look with smart suits made of stretch jersey worn with pale cream polo-necks for the city slickers in the audience. But there was still plenty of punch for the youthful dresser with neon PVC trousers cut skin-tight and printed with huge black magazine headlines while the design duos now trademark sexy bras were turned into neon vinyl boob tubes. All of it was worn under the shows trademark shirting. Models strutted the catwalk wearing oversized men's shirts with Edwardian frills, buttons up the sleeves and elastic strips pinning them into more interesting shapes.
For the cold weather, D&G will give you Milans trademark fur but will decorate it with bright orange packing tape printed with the D&G logo. Models showed priests vestments twinned with the traditional Middle Eastern keffiyeh head dress while others showed tops printed with pictures of Jesus Christ's face and Italy's favourite saint Padre Pio.
There was also a Middle Eastern taste to Palombos coats and finger-knit ponchos, painted in rich colours like kilims.
