Hyderabad, Sept 09: Shaken by the alleged involvement
of his party legislator C Krishna Yadav in the multi-crore
fake stamp paper racket, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N
Chandrababu Naidu today talked tough saying his government
would not spare the guilty irrespective of their positions.
The TDP supremo also said the case would be reviewed and
if necessary a fresh probe would be ordered.
As the recent arrest of Yadav, a former TDP minister, in connection with the scam, sent shock waves in the party, Naidu sought to assure partymen that it was an "aberration" and that his government would take steps to ensure such incidents did not recur. "Let me assure you and the people that we are committed to upholding political morality and honesty. If any individual commits a crime, he should face punishment. There is no question of shielding anybody," Naidu said while addressing a training camp for his party leaders at TDP headquarters here.
Blaming the "lacunae in the system" for the multi-crore scam, spread over several states, he said some vested interests were taking advantage of the loopholes in the system and were out to destroy the country's economy by circulating fake stamp papers in the market. Later, answering a volley of questions from reporters, the Chief Minister said the entire case would be reviewed and if necessary a fresh probe would be ordered.
