Tight security for Deputy PM Advani`s Arunachal visit
Itanagar, Nov 14: A security blanket has been thrown in Arunachal Pradesh`s capital for the two-day visit of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, beginning today.
Besides the State Police Force, the CRPF, the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and the Arunachal Pradesh Armed Police Battalion personnel had been deployed at all vulnerable places, Papum Pare District Superintendent of Police Robin Hibu told reporters.
A team of national security guards arrived is here to oversee the security arrangements.
Advani is scheduled to arrive at Naharlogun Helipad, about 15? km from here, at 1415 hrs today.
The BJP-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government with Gegong Apang as its Chief Minister is making all arrangements for the visit.
Advani would be accompanied by BJP president Venkaiah Naidu and Doner Minister Dr C P Thakur, official sources said.
The Deputy Prime Minister would lay the foundation stone of a 500-bed referral hospital at Pachin village in Naharlogun and inaugurate the energy park here developed by the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) on Friday afternoon before.
The same day, he would discuss various state issues with Governor Vinod Chandra Pande, the Chief Minister and his ministerial colleagues at the Raj Bhavan.
On Saturday, Advani would visit the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital here before attending a civil reception at the Indira Gandhi Park here.
Advani is expected to announce a special financial package for the state. Apang, along with his Cabinet colleagues, had a discussion with Advani at New Delhi on November 8.
The state government had also submitted proposals worth Rs 1,567 crore to the Doner Ministry which, if approved, would help the hilly state catch up with the rest of the country.
