New Delhi, Oct 30: Senior Haryana cadre IPS officer R K Sharma had "ordered elimination" of journalist Shivani Bhatnagar when he felt "threatened" about his "exposure" over alleged leakage of some "sensitive" documents relating to national security given to her, according to Delhi Police. The 45-page chargesheet presented in a local court here says that Sharma, during his stint as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Prime Minister's Office in 1997, had allegedly "leaked" to Shivani some secret documents of intelligence agencies regarding terrorism and measures to counter it.
The documents were leaked to her as he had "intimate relationship" with her developed soon after he joined PMO in 1997, sources said citing the chargesheet whose contents have remained behind a veil of secrecy so far.
On the relationship between the two, the chargesheet mentions that it was "so intimate" that Sharma spent several nights with Shivani at her residence in East Delhi when they were "alone".

Providing evidence to establish the intimacy of the relationship, the police cites statements of Sharma's official driver Rajiv Vaidh and entries in the log books of the official vehicle in 1997 and 1998.
After Shivani gave birth to a son in December 1998, Sharma started ignoring her prompting blackmailing, it says.
The blackmail reached a stage that Sharma felt threatened about his "exposure" which could have cost him his job, the chargesheet states, adding this made him to "order her elimination".
Sharma's alleged statement admitting his guilt before police has been annexed to the chargesheet. Bureau Report
