CBI registers case against Rawat
New Delhi, July 25: The CBI today registered a case against former Uttaranchal minister Harak Singh Rawat for allegedly establishing physical relations with a girl from Assam against her wishes.
New Delhi, July 25: The CBI today registered a case against former Uttaranchal minister Harak Singh Rawat for allegedly establishing physical relations with a girl from Assam against her wishes.
After conducting a preliminary investigations for about a fortnight into the case of Rawat's relationship with the unwed mother Indira Devi alias Jeenie, the CBI registered a case against the former minister under section 376 of Indian Penal Code (establishing physical relationship against wishes).
In its FIR, the CBI alleged that Rawat had established physical relationship with Indira on a promise of providing her employment within a month.
Indira Devi gave birth to a child allegedly fathered by the former minister, who resigned in the wake of scandal that rocked the state assembly for days together from June 18. The CBI is understood to have filed the case on a statement from the victim who had come from Assam in search of a job.
Immediately, after the scandal came to light, state chief Minister N D Tiwari handed over the case to CBI.
