Kolkata, Dec 11: The disciplinary committee of the cricket board today decided to issue show cause notice to Abhijit Kale, accused of trying to bribe his way into the
Australia-bound Indian team.
The three-member committee headed by board president Jagmohan Dalmiya would ask kale to give his reply within 15 days.
The committee went through the report submitted by Inquiry Commissioner D V Subba Rao and "found a prima facie case against Kale and framed charges against him," Dalmiya told reporters immediately after emerging out of the meeting.
He further said that the committee accordingly decided to "issue a show-cause notice to the cricketer". The committee, which also included two vice-presidents of the board -- Kamal Morarka and Ranbir Singh Mahendra, deliberated on the issue for more than three hours before arriving at the decision to give Kale an opportunity to explain his conduct.
To a query, a member of the board's legal team said Kale would be given 15 days' time to give his reply to the show cause.
