Hawala operator remanded to police custody
New Delhi, Sept 17: A city court today remanded a hawala operator picked up by police yesterday on charges of funding terrorists, to police custody for a day.
New Delhi, Sept 17: A city court today remanded a hawala operator picked up by police yesterday on charges of funding terrorists, to police custody for a day.
Special Judge S N Dhingra remanded Rajinder Prasad, a resident of Pitampura locality in North-West Delhi, to police custody to enable his custodial interrogation.
The court also allowed a request by the enforcement directorate to interrogate Prasad and Noor Mohammed Tantray, the JEM militant who had received the money, for alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act. Prasad had allegedly provided Rs 20 lakh to Tantray, who was arrested from the Sadar Bazar area here last month. The money was paid on instruction of one Sethi, police claimed.
Tantray, who along with associates Pervez Ahmad and Feroze Ahmad were arrested on august 30 with a large quantity of arms and ammunition, is currently in police custody.
Police had recovered 10 hand grenades, an equal number of grenade shells and one barrel grenade launcher from the trio.
