New Delhi, Oct 13: Gloating over completion of four years in office by the NDA government at the Centre, BJP today attacked the Congress saying "the sun of Congress dominance in national politics has set forever," and the party has failed "miserably" in its repeated attempt to unite the Opposition under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi. "The Congress Party's condition today is pathetic. It has failed miserably in its repeated attempts to unite the Opposition under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi. The Congress willingness to form a coalition has no takers," BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.

Highlighting the achievements of the BJP-led NDA government, he said it had "debunked the self-serving myth propagated by the congress that it alone can provide stable governance. Its other myth that only the Nehru family is capable of leading the nation also stands shattered”.

Pointing out that Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the "first pure non-Congress prime minister who never owed directly or indirectly to the Congress", he said "no other coalition government has remained in office for even half this length of time. Indeed Vajpayee is the third longest-serving Indian Prime Minister, after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi”.
He said this showed the fundamental shift that the BJP, along with its NDA partners, has brought about in Indian politics while the Congress Party "has entered the phase of irreversible decline”.
