New Delhi, Nov 22: Congress today assailed NDA government accusing it of failure to take the nation into confidence on Pak intrusion into the Indian territory in July this year and said "negligence" in the security of the country was a serious matter.

"It is a serious matter. Parliament was in session then but neither the government nor the defence ministry took the nation into confidence. Negligence in the nation's security is a serious matter," party spokesman Satyabrata Chaturvedi told reporters.
Defence Minister George Fernandes, he said, in a written reply in Lok Sabha had admitted that Pak army did cross the LOC on July 26 and occupied a post in Kupwara sector for several days which was ultimately cleared by the army with the help of Indian air force.
The government had been consistently denying media reports of such an intrusion, he recalled.
