New Delhi, Dec 05: Shiv Sena member Sanjay Nirupam today demanded an apology from disinvestment minister Arun Shourie for accusing him of "misleading" the Rajya Sabha and tabled in the house what he claimed documents substantiating charges of corruption in the controversial sell-off of Centaur Hotel in Mumbai.
"The minister (Shourie) says I am misleading the house, I am, therefore, tabling in the house documents substantiating my charges of corruption in centaur disinvestment, copies of which I have already sent to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee," Nirupam said during the zero hour.
Shourie should "apologise", failing which he would move a privilege notice, Nirupam said after he was allowed by the deputy chairperson Najma Heptulla to lay on the table the authenticated documents.
She also warned Nirupam that if the documents were found to be incorrect, action could be taken against him.
CPI(M) members Dipankar Mukherjee and Jibon Roy sought to demand an inquiry into the corruption charges, which was diasllowed by the chair.
During the course of the short duration discussion on disinvestment in the house yesterday, there were heated exchanges on corruption charges levelled against the minister by Nirupam.
The chair had disallowed Nirupam from making personal charges against the minister saying his interruptions could not go on record. Bureau Report
