New Delhi, Sept 10: Promising a great future, the Rs 2,000 crore Indian publishing industry has been growing at a rate of 12 per cent as compared to single digit global growth. "The organised domestic publishing industry is growing at 12-15 per cent annually," President of Federation of Indian Publishers Anand Bhushan said.
The industry publishes 70,000 new titles each year in 24 major languages and comprises about 15,000 publishers.

On the composition of the industry, he said nearly 23 per cent of the publishing on new titles is in English language.
However, publishing of books in vernacular languages still dominates the domestic industry.
Providing global perspective, president of International Publishers Association (IPA) Pere Vicens said the industry has been growing at 4 per cent worldwide.
The growth focus has been shifted to Latin America, China and African countries in the recent past. Bureau Report
