Indore, June 20: Madhya Pradesh would become self-dependent in power production in the next three years as the state would be able to generate 3000 mw of power through different hydel-projects being implemented on the River Narmada, state's deputy chief minister Subhash Yadav said. Inaugurating a 220 kv power grid to be set up at a cost of Rs 14 crores at village Jaitpura in the district yesterday, Yadav said that by November this year the state would get 500 mw of power from the Indira Sagar Project on Narmada. The 1000 mw capacity project will be completed by the year 2006-07, he said.

Similarly, efforts are being made to complete soon the 500 mw Omkreshwar project, 450 mw Pench Power Project and 420 mw bansagar power project in the state which will address the ongoing power crisis to a large extent, he said.
The state government has earmarked Rs 3500 crore for various irrigation projects, Yadav said adding that no project will be closed due to shortage of funds.
