Hyderabad, Feb 25: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Congress today finally forged an alliance to jointly contest the coming Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
However, the parties remained silent on the seat-sharing agreement between them, stating that it would be announced ''very soon.'' The forming of the alliance was announced by AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, APCC President D Srinivas, former Union Minister G Venkataswamy, former State Minister Shabbir Ali, TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao and TRS leader a Narendra at Mr Rao's residence here.

Mr Azad told newspersons that they had agreed to form an alliance and campaign together in the polls. ''Very soon, we will announce the full package and seat-sharing between the two parties.''

Asked who was weaker among the two parties, he said ''there is no one weak or strong, but there is only one big boss (hinting at Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu).''

The Congress leader said the common goal of the TRS and the Congress would be to defeat the TDP in the state and the NDA at the Centre.

Mr Rao said mere seat adjustments was not the issue, but forming an alliance and building up political strength to defeat the TDP-BJP alliance in the state and the NDA at the centre was more important.

He said both the parties had come to an understanding on seat adjustments, which would be announced later. Bureau Report
