Mumbai, May 13: Mahindra & Mahindra today opened its second assembly plant and distribution centre at Calhoun in Georgia in US to meet the rising American demand for tractors. The second unit, which was inaugurated by vice-chairman and managing director Anand Mahindra, is expected to strengthen the company's presence in the us market and supplement the operational unit at Tomball, Texas, where M&M has set up a whole owned subsidiary. The Calhoun facility, according to a release here, is expected to serve 14 states and placed between US main dealer territories of the southeast and northeast thereby improve inventory management and cut delivery times. Spread over eight acres, the plant has a capacity of 6,000 tractors and is expected to have 40 employees by the year end, the release added.
