The Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC), a coalition partner in the congress-led government in Pondicherry, appeared to be heading for a vertical split on Wednesday with three of its six legislators writing to the speaker that they be treated as a separate group in the house.
The three members -- S Manohar, K Rajasekara Odayar (deputy speaker) and A Elumalai – on Wednesday addressed a letter to speaker A V Subramanian requesting him to treat them as a separate group.
Since the speaker is away to the UK to attend a conference, the letter was handed over to the assembly secretary.
The secretary later told newsmen that he had received the letter from the legislators. TMC with six MLAs is a partner in the Congress-led coalition ministry in the union territory. Bureau Report
