He is now known as the 'man of the match' and a `show stealer'. Little-known advocate SK Bagga became a famous man when he trounced none other than Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi by a margin of 2,277 votes in the BJP stronghold of Krishna Nagar.

Bagga's victory over Bedi was icing on the cake for the Aam Aadmi Party, which pulled an astonishing victory in Delhi Assembly Elections by grabbing 67 out of 70 seats.

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan had been holding the Krishna Nagar seat since 1993, before he was elected to the Lok Sabha last year. Said to be BJP's "safe" constituency, the party pitted newly-inducted Bedi from Krishna Nagar but the former IPS officer, shockingly, failed to script victory.

Sixty-one-year-old Bagga is a lawyer by profession and a social worker.

In an exclusive interview with Biplob Ghosal and Kamna Arora of Zee Media Corp, Bagga shares his views on his impressive win and plans for Krishna Nagar.

What makes you happier - that you won or you won by defeating BJP's CM candidate Kiran Bedi?

Bagga: People have made my win possible. They have put faith in me and believed in party’s poll promises. I am happy that the people of Krishna Nagar believed in me.

Kiran Bedi was a star campaigner and BJP’s chief ministerial candidate; still the party suffered a massive defeat. What according to you led to such a debacle?

Bagga: I will not say anything on this. I am a local in Krishna Nagar and feel extremely happy that the public has bestowed faith and loved me and my party.

Union Minister Harsh Vardhan had been winning the Krishna Nagar seat before he vacated it following his election to the Lok Sabha last year. How do you gauge his stint as an MLA?

Bagga: I was given the election ticket 60 days ahead of the polling date. During the campaigning, I went door-to-door to meet the people. There are huge problems related to electricity, water, healthcare, schools and parking. I need to solve all these problems.

What are your plans for Krishna Nagar?

Bagga: I will make Krishna Nagar a model place. I have already started working on this and we are here to work and will continue to do so to develop the area.

I am easily accessible, and my residence as well as the office is right here. People of Krishna Nagar know me very well and can directly contact me whenever they feel to do so.
