A couple and their son were killed and three securitymen, including two army jawans, sustained injuries as militants targetted house of an alleged informer, blew up an army vehicle and attacked a police camp in north Kashmir on Thursday, an official spokesman said.
“A group of unidentified militants stormed into the house of an alleged informer, Khursheed Ahmad, at Kangroosa in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district early Thursday and opened indiscriminate fire on the inmates, killing his father, mother and brother,” he said.
Khursheed was not present in the house at the time of the incident, he said.
In another incident, two army personnel were wounded when militants blew up an army vehicle with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Zangam in Pattan area of Baramulla district on Thursday, the spokesman said.
He said that militants had planted the IED on the main road and triggered it when an army vehicle passed over it, damaging the vehicle while the injured jawans were shifted to hospital.
“Militants also attacked the camp of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police at Warpora-Tangmarg in Baramulla district early Thursday, injuring a police constable,” he said adding that the SOG party returned the fire but the militants managed to flee from the scene.
