To disseminate information about the latest agricultural technologies and marketing opportunities among Indian farmers, the mega-Krishi-Expo-2001 will be organised from February 24 to March 1, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, according to Y R Meena, Director, farm information, Union Ministry of Agriculture. The Krishi Expo is being organised jointly by the Indian trade promotion organisation and ministry of agriculture. "Besides bringing information about the latest agriculture technology to the farming community, the expo would also help find overseas market for excess foodgrains," he added. The Ministry of Agriculture has directed all the state governments to mobilise farmers through block development officers throughout the country to organise visits of farmers to the exhibition.
The ministry also advised organisations to contact local railway authorities to avail concessions for a group of minimum 20 farmers for visiting the Krishi Expo-2001.
