Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga bade farewell to Britain last week after her official visit, with politicians and expatriates paying tribute to the extraordinary effort and commitment she has demonstrated in her attempts to restore peace to Sri Lanka. Apart from calling on the Queen, the President also held high level talks with a number of top politicos on mutual matters and the on-going ethnic conflict. Political observers said that Kumaratunga had injected some new impetus so that Britain would play a more positive role in the peace process and for London to take a closer look at LTTE activities in London and ban the terrorist group. "It may be that the LTTE will soon be outlawed in Britain and placed in the proscribed list of terrorist organisations," said one such observer. Bureau Report
