ULFA chief Praesh Barua shot at, deputy killed
ULFA chief Paresh Barua was believed to have been seriously wounded and his deputy Raju Barua, suspected mastermind behind massacres of Hindi-speaking people in Assam, killed in a gun-battle between two factions of the banned outfit in the Chittagong hill tracts in Bangladesh on Saturday, a senior army officer said on Sunday.

Assam Rifles in-charge of publicity for Tripura Maj A Bhargava said in a press release in Agartala that it is believed that Paresh Barua has been seriously injured and shifted to a Dhaka hospital under high security. Raju Barua has been killed.
The release said that it was reliably learnt this occurred during an encounter between two rival factions of ULFA in the Chittagong hill tracts on Saturday at approximately 4:30 hrs.
Raju Barua was in-charge of training and operation of ULFA cadres in Bhutan and believed to have been the brain behind the killing of Hindi-speaking people in Assam, official sources in Guwahati added. Bureau Report
