Orissa government has decided to order a judicial inquiry by a sitting high court judge into the December 16 police firing in Maikanch village in Rayagada district in which three tribals were killed, an official release said in Bhubaneshwar on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written to the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court requesting him to nominate a sitting judge to conduct the probe.
The terms of inquiry would include the sequence of events leading to the police firing, the police action and role of different groups and organisations in the incident, it said.
