Industry output declines to 5.7 per cent in first seven months
Industrial growth slid to 5.7 per cent during April-October, 2000, as against 6.7 per cent during the corresponding period of the previous year mainly due to poor showing of the manufacturing sector.

The quick estimates of Index of Industrial Production
(IIP), released on Tuesday, also reveals a decline in industrial
output during October 2000 to 6.6 per cent as against 8.4 per
cent during October, 1999.
