Shedding light on the modus operandi in the Chhota Rajan case, Deputy Chief Minister of Mahrahtra Chhagan Bhujbal said that the underworld don’s passport will be confiscated. In such a case, as is the usual practice, the Thai government will hand over the gangster to Indian authorities and he would be brought back to India. The Mumbai Police will then file a chargesheet against Rajan. Earlier the Home Ministry denied reports that India did not act promptly in clearing request of the Maharashtra government with reference to sending a team of police officers to Bangkok for seeking extradition of Chhota Rajan. The Ministry said that as soon as information was received about Chhota Rajan being in Bangkok and his involvement in a shoot out, the CBI swung into action.
It sent a message on September 18 to the Thai Police bringing to their notice the fact that an international red corner notice stood issued against Chhota Rajan in 1995. On September 20 the CBI wrote to the Maharashtra government requesting that necessary extradition papers may be sent.
Meanwhile, according to a Thai daily, the mafia don is planning to file a court case against Thai immigration police for abuse of power. The report cited sources close to Rajan on the information. Bureau Report
