Assam Pradesh Congress Committee will not be allowed to participate in the ensuing All India Congress Committee (AICC) election for its failure to hold organisational polls on time. There is hardly any chance of holding APCC organisational election before the next assembly polls in Assam due early next year.
The APCC spokesman Pradyut Bordoloi informed that only three members of the APCC who are ex-officio members of the AICC by virtue of their status in the state congress, would be able to vote in the next AICC election.
The three APCC leaders are :its incumbent President, Tarun Gogoi, former APCC President, Nakul Das and Congress Legislature Party(CLP) leader in Assam, Silvius Condopan.
The APCC can send 23 members to the AICC with right to vote in AICC polls. But this time because of non-holding of APCC organisational polls so far, the Assam Congress unit cannot have any say in electing the new AICC team.
However, the APCC leadership was planning to move the election commission seeking its permission to participate in AICC election as a special case.
