A dawn-to-dusk bandh on Sunday crippled the life in north Tripura's Kailashahar subdivision. The 12-hour bandh was sponsored by the opposition Congress party to protest Saturday's gunning down of a police official by the underground National Liberation Front of Tripura Militants at Golakpur tea estate.
State police officer Tapan Das died in an encounter with the NLFT. Security force also gunned down a self-styled commander of the outlawed in retaliation of firing. Official sources said the vehicles were off the road. The business establishments, shops and market people downed their shutters.
There was no report of any untoward incident in relation to the bandh.

In another incident police arrested an extremist under National Security Act from Fatikroy area of north district on October 12, while tribal insurgents kidnapped two persons including a girl from Moilak village under Amarpur subdivision in south Tripura on Saturday.
