West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee today dismissed Trinamool Congress' allegation of massacre at Chhoto Angaria village in Midnapore district during Bangla bandh on july 6. "It was an incident of arson in a house, whose owner and family members are alright and no body have been found as yet," Bhattacharjee told newsmen here.
"What I told earlier, I am telling it still now. When oppositions parties are continuing with their allegations, we have to give much importance to the matter," he said. Refusing to comment on the superintendent of police Gourav Dutta's admission that it was an incident of killing at the village, Bhattacharjee said, "I am awaiting the report of the inspector general of police (western range) Jitram Bhagat whom I asked to investigate into matter."
Senior police officials headed by Bhagat went to the affected area to investigate into the matter at highest level, Bhattacharjee said. "I have also asked Bhagat to carry on search operation in the adjacent areas under Bankura and Purulia districts to find out if any person is at all killed and if so who they are and under what circumstance they are killed," he added.
Bhattacharjee, who discussed the matter with the state home secretary S N Roy and director general of police Dipak Sanyal, also ruled out CBI inquiry into the alleged incident saying I do not think CBI inquiry is at all required, since I have full trust on my police who have been asked to investigate the whole matter.
