CID confirms clash, casualties occurred at Choto Angaria

A clash occurred and a few men from both sides were killed. But the number of those killed and their identities are yet to be established, State Police Director General Dipak Kumar Sanyal said, quoting a preliminary report submitted by the investigating team.
“It also confirmed that attempts were made to conceal evidence. The team found blood-stained soil as well as clothes,” he said. Police were still hunting for the bodies.
The CID has also found evidence of a large stockpile of arms and ammunition in the house of one Abdur Rahman.

“Bullets exploded as the house was set afire. Many bullet heads came out of the projectiles which explains the abundance of empty cartridges in the gutted house,” He said.
Some bullets made in the Ichhapore ordnance factory were also found.
The January 4 incident rocked the political scenario with Trinamool Congress and the people's war group, alleging that CPI(M) activists had burnt to death their activists at
the village.
