Kuwait, which was invaded by Iraq leading to a host of UN sanctions on Baghdad, has favored easing of embargoes against its neighbour. Kuwaiti Information Minister, Saad Bin Teflah Al-Ajmi, said that his country supports easing the suffering of the Iraqi people.
The minister was quoted by Kuwaiti news agency as saying on Monday that Kuwait would be of the first countries to benefit from lifting the UN-imposed embargo against Iraq. "Iraq needs to abide by Security Council resolutions adopted following its invasion of Kuwait before international sanctions are scrapped off," he added.
On flights to Baghdad, he said, “If the planes were aimed at delivering humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people, we support extending aid to Iraq”. Bureau Report
