US President Bill Clinton will sign on Tuesday into law a bill granting china Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR), the White House said.

“Leader of congress have been invited to the afternoon ceremony,” White House official Nanda Chitre said.
The US Senate voted 83-15 to approve the hotly contested bill, which slashes US tariffs on Chinese exports in return for a promise by Beijing's Communist leaders to throw open their market of more than one billion people to US firms
The House of Representatives approved PNTR status for China in May.

The measure is part of a process designed to ensure China's accession to the world trade organization. Bureau Report
