In the first major arms haul in Jammu and Kashmir since the Centre's Ramzan ceasefire, police seized a large quantity of deadly weapons, including an 82-mm multi-purpose RCL gun capable of shooting down aircraft, in Anantnag district. The seizure followed interrogation of four Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, arrested recently by Maharashtra police and handed over to the state police, IGP, Kashmir, A K Bhan told reporters in Srinagar. Besides the RCL gun, the seizure included seven busters, a telescope, a pika gun with 752 rounds, a Chinese pistol with magazine, a search device (one set), 20 RPG shells, five two-inch motor shells, 15 RPG premiers, four rifle grenades and 750 rounds of ammunition, Bhan said. The 82 mm multi-purpose gun with a range of five kms was capable of downing aircraft and destroying oil depots and arms and ammunition dumps, the IGP said. Bureau Report
