Leading film producer S K Kapur died at the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai late on Thursday night following a lung ailment, his family sources said. He was 72. Starting his association with the film industry as an exhibitor and distributor in Delhi, Kapur rose to become a top producer of Hindi films and made about 20 movies. His first film "Night In London", starring Mala Sinha and Biswajeet, was released in 1968. The other films produced by him included "Sazaa", "inspector", the silver jubilee hit "Dharma", featuring Navin Nischal and Rekha, "Shankar Dada", "Apna Khoon" and "Maan Gaya Ustad". The last three films had Hema Malani as the heroine. From 1960 to 1968, Kapur controlled Plaza, Naaz, Palace and Majestic theatres in Delhi. A large number of film personalities, including Yash Chopra, Shakti Samanta, Shyam Shroff, Darshan Sabharwal and Hema Malini attended his funeral this afternoon at the Vile Parle crematorium.
