LTTE suffer heavy losses
About eighteen LTTE terrorists were either killed or severely wounded following a confrontation with security forces in east Chiviyatheru near Chemmani in the Jaffna peninsula. A release from the Special Media Information Centre (SMIC) said.
About eighteen LTTE terrorists were either killed or severely wounded following a confrontation with security forces in east Chiviyatheru near Chemmani in the Jaffna peninsula. A release from the Special Media Information Centre (SMIC) said.
The incident occurred when troops operating in east Chemmani confronted a large group of terrorists moving towards Navatkuli.
The release said that the troops engaged the terrorists with machine guns, small arms and infantry mortars. Meanwhile, in a separate incident troops operating in the area of Colombuthurai destroyed a terrorist bunker, killing 4 terrorists.
The release added that 2 more terrorists had been killed in two separate incidents in Chavakachcheri on the same day. Two soldiers in the area were injured by terrorist mortar fire.
