And if you have fallen in love with Vada Pav but cannot find it in your city (in case you are not a Mumbaikar) the worry not. We have the recipe for you here.

Note down the ingredients you would need to make vada pav:

2-3 boiled potatoes – Peeled and mashed

½ tsp turmeric powder

½ tsp chilli powder

1 green chilli - finely chopped (optional)

½ tsp asafoetida

5-6 curry leaves - finely chopped

A few strands of coriander leaves- finely chopped

1-2 cloves of garlic - finely chopped

100 gms gram flour

Oil

Water

Salt to taste

2 salty Buns/Pavs or Bread slices

For garnishing:

Chopped onions

Fried green chilli

Procedure:

Add turmeric, chilli powder, finely chopped chilli, asafoetida, garlic, curry leaves and coriander to the mashed potatoes and mix well. Add salt (to taste) and mix thoroughly.

In a bowl, add water to the gram flour and make a semi fluid batter. Make sure the consistency isn’t too thick or water.

Make small balls of the mashed potatoes and keep them ready.

Pour some oil in a kadhai and let it heat for some time. Now, dip the potato balls one by one in the gram flour batter and slowly put them in the kadhai to cook. Cook until the gram flour coating turns slightly brown.

You may fry a few green chillies for garnishing.

If you do not have pavs, you can serve the vadas hot with salted buns ot bread. Garnish with fried green chillies and chopped onion.
