PAAS spokesperson Piyush Patel attacked in Gujarat, blames BJP

DABHOI: Days after Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani claimed that he was attacked during Gujarat poll campaigning, spokesperson of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) Piyush Patel has alleged that he was attacked late on Tuesday night.
Patel claimed that he was attacked by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members in Dabhoi in Gujarat. "Last night, 8 people attacked me. BJP has a role to play in this attack," he alleged.
The Dabhoi Police has begun the investigation into the case.
Last week, Jignesh Mevani had posted pictures on twitter saying that his convoy was attacked by BJP members in the poll-bound state.
"Friends, supporters of the BJP today attacked me at Takarwada village. The BJP is scared and therefore it is resorting to such acts. But I am a revolutionary, will not get scared," Mevani had written on Twitter.
Confirming that a vehicle in his convoy was hit by a stone, police had said that no one was injured. "A vehicle in Mevani's convoy was hit by a stone but nobody was injured. Mevani was in another vehicle. We will initiate whatever legal proceedings are required in the matter," Banaskantha SP Niraj Badgujar had said.
The BJP had, however, denied all allegations in connection with the attack on Mevani's convoy.
