Gangster Ajit Guliya and his aides Ankit, Rishi and Pradeep had hatched a plot to kill fellow prisoners from the rival Manjit Mahal gang and make their escape on Monday night, the Times of India reported, citing jail officials.

The prison staff has seized blunt objects like iron rods, cables, steel plates and mobile phones during a search at the premises, the report said.

The gangster and his accomplices also allegedly threatened to kill the officials.

Deputy superintendent of Bhondsi jail Sajid Khan in his complaint filed at the Bhondsi police station said the prison authorities swung into action after they had received information about the jailbreak plan.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged against the inmates for their role in the alleged jailbreak attempt.
