YAMUNANAGAR: The principal of a Haryana school was allegedly shot dead by a class 12 student.

The accused student allegedly fired four shots at Swami Vivekanand School principal Ritu Chhabra while she was in her office.


She was attacked by a .32 bore gun and critically injured her.


Chhabra succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. The accused boy was caught by locals and was handed over to the police.


The incident took place between 11:30 am and 12 noon. The motive behind the killing has not yet been ascertained.


The Haryana government is currently facing flak over the law and order situation in the state. Several rape incidents have been reported from the state in the past 15 days.


In one case, a minor was allegedly gangraped and killed and her body was mutilated. The girl's body was covered just by a torn shirt, and there were injury marks on her face, neck, lips and chest.


In the wake of rising incidents of rape and murders, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also transferred three IG level officers and an SHO in the state. 


The CM had also assured that strict action would be taken against those involved in such crimes. He added that Haryana is in the process of establishing special courts for speedy trial in such cases to ensure timely justice to the victims.
