New Delhi: In protest to the claim made by the sister of Eman Ahmed, 12 out of 13 doctors treating the Egyptian woman, thought to have been the heaviest woman in the world, say reports on Wednesday.
The resignation came amid allegations made by Shaimaa Salim, who claimed that doctors were lying about Eman's weight loss and not giving factual updates on her health and recovery.
Rebutting Shaimaa's claim, Dr Aparna Govil Bhasker, one of the docotrs who resigned from the team, posted some photos and a video of Eman on her Facebook post.
“I had thought that Eman's case would go down in annals of medicine as one of the biggest medical challenges ever overcome. I feel extremely saddened today that though the challenges have been overcome, it has created history but of a very different kind,” she said. Her full post and video can be seen here below!
Dr Mufazzal Lakdawala, who operated on Eman, said that her current weight is 171kg and not 200kg as per the claims made by Shaimaa.
“Shaimaa Selim u killed humanity with 1 swell blow may only God help u when u realise what u have done I will continue to treat & pray for Eman,” Dr Lakdawala said on Twitter.

Doctors said a CT scan was successfully conducted on Eman and the results did not reveal any fresh brain ailment, adding that she is better than before.
However, it is said that Shaimaa isn't satisfied with the CT scan report and is worried about Eman's health.
The 36-year-old Eman, who arrived in Mumbai on February 11 nad weighed 500kg plus, underwent a bariatric surgery on March 7 in which doctors reduced her stomach size by two-third.
