New Delhi: A Russian man has broken the internet ever since images of his bulging Popeye-esque biceps have gone viral.

21-year-old Kirill Tereshin has been sharing pictures of his bizarre body shape on social media. However, 24-inch bulges are not the result of dedicated workouts, but a site enhancement oil, commonly known as synthol.

Tereshin has been injecting the oil into his arms, despite numerous warnings from doctors.

While he does work out, he says he wants to break bodybuilding records with his enhanced figure.

He began injecting himself with synthol after leaving the army this summer and in just ten days managed to increase the size of his biceps by ten inches.

According to the Daily Mail, he began by injecting 250 ml into his biceps but found that would make them grow by no more than an inch.

Tereshin said: 'In order to reach such a size, you need to inject litres into your arms.

'I was doing it and getting a fever of up to 40 degrees, I was lying in bed, feeling like I was dying, but then it all turned out fine.'

Since starting the injections, his body weight went up from 9st 11lbs to 10st 10lbs.\

While the size of his biceps increased, it didn't bring any difference in his strength, since the muscles are not really as developed as they appear.

Synthol is used by many bodybuilders to enhance their bodies before a competition. It is injected into muscles to change their shape.

With no restrictions on the sale of synthol, the subastance is easily available in many forms online and is made up of 85 percent oil, 7.5 percent lidocaine, and 7.5 percent alcohol.

Doctors warn that synthol can cause pulmonary embolisms, nerve damage, infections, sclerosing lipogranuloma, stroke and oil-filled cysts or ulcers in the muscle.
