New Delhi: Amid war of words between Eman Ahmed's kin and doctors treating the world's heaviest woman over her actual weight loss, a team of health experts from Abu Dhabi's VPS Healthcare visited Saifee Hospital on Wednesday.
As per reports, the team from Abu Dhabi comprised four doctors and three management officials, who crosschecked Eman's medical reports and held a meeting with bariatric surgeon Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, who is treating her, and the COO of Saifee Hospital.
One of the officials from the visiting said they are aware of the ongoing crisis regarding Eman's treatment and wouldn't make any official comment on it.
Shaimaa Selim, who alleged that the doctors treating her have made "false claims" about Eman's health and recovery, told DNA that doctors at Saifee hospital have not informed her about the discharge, but accepted that she is ready to take her sister back home.
On Wednesday, a team of seven doctors from New Delhi has also visited Eman at Saifee Hospital to inspect her medical reports.
Eman, resident of Alexandria in Egypt, weighed over 500 kg when she was brought to Saifee Hospital in Mumbai for treatment in February.
However, Dr Lakdawala confirmed that Eman's current weight is 171 kg and not 200 kg as per the claims made by her sister.
Doctors at Saifee hospital also claimed that her condition has improved by 75%. They say her renal functions are now close to normal and obesity is also under control following a bariatric procedure and high-protein diet, adding that her mobility is slightly better due to physiotherapy, although she continues to suffer seizures due to a brain stroke she suffered three years ago.
