Delhi: Dengue cases on the rise, over 750 reported in a week
As per reports, as many as 756 people have been victimised by the vector-borne disease and the number is so high that it has left the authorities nervous.
New Delhi: Over 750 fresh cases of dengue have been reported in the national capital in last one week taking the total number of people affected by the disease to 3,865.
As per reports, as many as 756 people have been victimised by the vector-borne disease and the number is so high that it has left the authorities nervous.
Of the total 3,865 dengue cases, 1,807 affected people were residents of Delhi, while the rest were from other states.
Of the 1,807 Delhi residents, 1,103 cases were reported in September itself, the report said. The number of dengue cases reported till September 23 was 3,109.
All the three municipal corporations have stepped up the awareness drive. The corporations are distributing pamphlets and plying vehicles with loudspeakers issuing do's and don'ts for the prevention of these diseases.
Dengue and chikungunya are caused by the aedes aegypti mosquito, which breeds in clear water. The anopheles mosquito, which causes malaria, can breed in both fresh and muddy water.
