New Delhi: Ovarian cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the ovaries. It happens when a tumour forms in the ovary's cells.

Ovarian cancer can affect women of any age, however, it is most frequently diagnosed in postmenopausal women (usually over the age of 50).

Since ovarian cancer often has no symptoms in the initial stage, it's difficult to diagnose until it has progressed to the advanced stage. Early symptoms include:

  • Abdominal bloating or swelling
  • Constipation
  • Persistent pelvic and abdominal pain
  • Difficulty eating and quickly feeling full when eating
  • Nausea
  • Weight loss
  • A frequent need to urinate
  • Menstrual changes
  • Painful intercourse

In case you experience these symptoms regularly, make an appointment with your doctor and get them checked promptly.
