Hong Kong records 188 new HIV cases
A total of 188 new cases of HIV infection were reported in Hong Kong in the second quarter of 2016, health officials said on Tuesday.
Hong Kong: A total of 188 new cases of HIV infection were reported in Hong Kong in the second quarter of 2016, health officials said on Tuesday.
Of the 188 cases, 98 acquired the infection through homosexual or bisexual contact, 35 via heterosexual contact and one through drug injection, Xinhua news agency reported.
The routes of transmission of the remaining 54 cases were yet to be determined.
The 188 cases comprises 163 males and 25 females.
The numbers brought the total reported HIV infections since 1984 to 8,053 in Hong Kong.
